Disaster Loan Forgiveness

David Vitter says winning forgiveness for Community Disaster Loans made in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita is one his “top priorities.” (Vitter Letter, 10/6/09)
In 2005, Vitter insisted on including language into the Community Disaster Loan Act that specifically prevented loans made to Louisiana communities from being forgiven. Luckily for Louisiana, a Democratic Congress removed Vitter’s language two years later.
